21st Century Pro Wrestling / Monday Night Civil War, Episode One ( February 2010 ) - Fantasy Promotion

Shane McMahan is introduced as the CEO of 21st Century Pro Wrestling.
Shane says things like, “ It’s time to redefine Monday night wrestling,  this isn’t my pop’s promotion and I’m not going to run it “with restrictions” like he did.  That means I’m going to let my wrestlers do what they do best… and that’s WRESTLE.   Oh, and by the way,  I’m not planning on leaving this time slot,  21st Century Pro Wrestling is going to OWN the 9pm to 11pm hours every Monday night,  and I love my family dearly but business is business and sometimes business is war.  Let the Monday Night Civil War begin…..

Shane continues on the mic and calls out AJ Styles who is accompanied by “Nature Boy” Ric Flair ( both men dressed in suits ) and AJ has the TNA World Championship belt with him.    Shane tells the fans,  here’s where we are doing to do something uncharacteristic for pro wrestling.    If this was my pop’s company,  he would bury YOU and the belt that you’re holding.   I’m not going to go that direction.   You see,  when UFC bought out PRIDE,  you didn’t see Dana White strip Dan Henderson of his title nor did he ignore the fact that he was a world champion.    21st Century Pro is going to recognize the TNA World Championship and not only that,  YOU are going to defend that title tonight !

AJ Styles is “smug” and tells Shane he’ll beat anyone that he puts in front of him.   That being said,   Shane introduces AJ’s opponent tonight as Mr. Monday Night himself, Rob Van Dam!   RVD comes out sporting a new spandex one piece airbrushed with the 21st Century Pro on it.   RVD plays to the crowd to the tune of “Respect”  before he enters the ring and confronts Styles.  RVD grabs the mic and calls AJ a “p.ssy” and that he’s going to take his TNA belt tonight.

The 21st Century announce team of Joey Styles, Mick Foley, and Al Snow introduce themselves.
In a different look for wrestling,  the announce team is not at ringside but behind a glass enclosed luxury box / if the arena doesn’t have something like that, we’ll build it.  This area is called, the “Control Tower”.    I picture this little room more like a radio station’s room and less like just a simple announce table.   Announcers have multiple televisions to watch the action as well as the window in front of them that looks out at the arena.

Opening contest
Christopher Daniels  vs.   Jeff Hardy
Daniels is back with his first name and a lot more.   He’s announced as “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels and comes out to Marilyn Manson just like in Ring of Honor.   The only difference here is we can afford to give him lots of pyro and smoke for a pretty killer ring entrance. The referee for this match is EL HIJO DEL ANTO,  our mask referee.   Now,  It’s Jeff Hardy’s entrance and he is being followed by a small camera crew.   Rob Feinstein holding the camera.   Boom Boom Creed holding the boom mic.  (Boom Boom Creed is formerly Consequences Creed).   Our announcers explain that Jeff Hardy is the subject of an online reality show called, “ ENIGMA “ and can be seen live right now by logging on to 21st Century Pro Wrestling’s website.   The reality show camera has been rolling before the match and will continue to roll after the match and will follow Jeff Hardy around all night long throughout the broadcast and maybe even after.  I think this is a cool idea that uses the internet as an excellent tool to complement the FX broadcast.  The match itself is balls to the wall with the finish having Daniels miss the BME (Best Moonsault Ever) then Hardy miss the Swanton Bomb but  Daniels recovering to nail the Last Rites (rolling cutter) for the pinfall.

From the ENGIMA camera feed,  we watch Jeff Hardy already back in the dressing room upset about the loss and down on himself as he takes off his wrist tape while  talking to Tyler Black.

Shelton Benjamin   vs   Tyler Black
Benjamin is out first escorted by Maria Kanellis ( of WWE and Playboy fame ) , a music arrangement from P. Diddy is appropriate for his ring entrance.   Tyler Black is out next... to the tunes of Iron Maiden.  I figure, no one ever really comes to the ring to Maiden.    Mike Kehner is the referee.   Benjamin is the obvious heel with Maria trying to be a distraction whenever possible.  This should be a high energy contest as both these guys can fly.    The finish has Tyler plant Benjamin with a Tornado DDT and follows up with Corkscrew 450 Splash to get the pinfall.  After the match,  a disgruntle Benjamin uses Maria’s high heel on Tyler and busts him open.   Benjamin and Maria leave before Tyler recovers.   Once Tyler does get up and wipes the blood from his face and looks at it,  he’s PO’ed.

In the corner of the building,  there’s stage set up with band equipment ready to go.    Christy Hemme ( also of WWE and Playboy fame ) comes out dressed provocatively and introduces the Rock and Roll Infection ( Jimmy Rave and Lance Hoyt ), the team she used to manage in TNA.   The come out with real guitars.    Al Snow comments that it looks they upgraded from playing Rockband on Playstation.  Hemme says they are just waiting for their lead singer to arrive and they’re going to rock 21st Century Pro!

TNA World Championship
AJ Styles (champion)  vs.   Rob Van Dam (challenger)
Styles is escorted to the ring by “his manager” , Ric Flair.    Flair is stylin’ and profilin’ at ringside.    Rob Van Dam and Ric Flair have a face off before the match starts, which give Styles the opportunity to jump RVD from behind and the match starts with Styles having the advantage.   El Hijo Del Anto is back as referee.    Now, with Ric Flair’s dirty tactics at ringside in this match, and Maria sexy tactics at ringside in Benjamin’s match, this is my contribution to try to revive the old school wrestling manager type.   This is the third match in a row that should present outstanding athletics.  RVD makes his comeback and gains a couple near falls and it’s just in time for our next commercial break.

AJ Styles vs. Rob Van Dam continues…
Our announcers welcome us into the historic second hour of the debut show Monday Night Civil War presented by 21stCentury Pro Wrestling.   We had left off with RVD having a flurry of offense and some near pinfall attempts, but AJ Styles has regained control of the match now.   AJ hits the Styles Clash but RVD kicked out ( I never liked that move as a finisher ),  Styles is shocked that RVD kicked out of his finisher.  RVD mounts a comeback that results in Styles being victim to the 5 Star Frog Splash, the referee counts three but Styles gets his foot on the ropes at the very last second.  Flair freaks out, pointing out the foot on the ropes.  The referee tells RVD that the match is NOT over yet,  Styles foot was on the ropes.   After another exchange of moves,  Styles hits the PHENOMENOM on RVD ( which is springboard moonsault onto a standing RVD floated over into an inverted DDT ) for the pinfall.   This is a move that Styles used to do a lot in ROH but I rarely if ever see him do it in TNA.   It’s one of the most spectacular looking moves out there.  Styles & Flair leave with the TNA belt held high.

We’re back at the stage and smoke is filling the area.   Jimmy Rave and lead guitar and Lance Hoyt of bass guitar, regardless on whether or not they can really play.  It will look like they’re playing.  Christy Hemme announces the “Rock & Roll Infection” with their new lead singer… Mongoose McQueen!    Chris Jericho ( I mean, Mongoose McQueen ) drives a sports car out near the stage.  McQueen’s outfit screams 80’s rock star.  The beat is familiar,  as Mongoose McQueen covers the White Snake classic, “Here I Go Again”.    Now, of course, the sports car isn’t parked there for nothing.  Christy Hemme ( playing the part of Tawny Kitaen ) dances and slides all over the hood of the car, just like Tawny did in the 80’s video.    After the song, Mongoose McQueen announces that the Rock & Roll Infection will be in six man competition next week.

From the “Control Tower”,  Joey Styles, Mick Foley, and Al Snow discuss the show thus far and anticipate the contract signing of Hulk Hogan at the end of the night.  Joey Styles says he already has some announcements for next weeks show,  AJ Styles will defend the TNA World title against Tyler Black.   Also, it’s confirmed that Jeff Hardy will be in action again with the ENGIMA crew taping.

Takeshi Morishima vs. Chemical Dutt
Chemical Dutt ( formerly Sonjay Dutt ) comes out first.   It’s Mick Foley’s opinion that Chemical Dutt is the cousin of Chemical Ali.   Chemical Dutt’s ring jacket is very controversial as it almost looks like it has explosives attached.   Yeah, I’m going over the top with that one.  Mike Kehner referees.   Anyway,  Morishima comes out and basically just destroys Chemical Dutt.   It’s the Morishima show from start to finish.  Morishima finishes Dutt off with a powerbomb to pin him.

Hulk Hogan contract signing.
Shane McMahan is out first and a big table is set up in the middle of the ring for the contract signing.  Extra camera’s are on hand to make it look that much more important.  Shane introduces HULK HOGAN… and what plays but none other than… Eye of the Tiger !   Let’s play the whole song as Hogan milks the crowd.   Hogan enters and does the dramatic shaking of the hand with Shane McMahan (photo opps).   McMahan says… Hogan is going to be an important part of the behinds the scenes process here at 21st Century Pro but that’s not where it ends.  Hulk Hogan is going to see in ring action too.   Hogan crosses the T’s and dot’s the I’s in the contract.  Hogan takes control of the mic and says as part of his association with 21st Century, he’s going to have some big announcements himself in the upcoming weeks, but first things first… It’s been way too long since I put on the boots to entertain you ( the fans ) , so NEXT WEEK the Hulkster is going to wrestle !!!!!   Shane McMahan announces that for Hogan’s first match with 21st Century, he wanted to do something fresh,  something never done before,  so next week Hulk Hogan’s opponent is going to be… SAMOA JOE!  That’s being said,  GODZILLA music hits … and Don Muraco escorts Samoa Joe to the ring.   Muraco announced as Joe’s manager.   Muraco looks like he just woke up from sleeping on the beach.    Muraco does some nostalgic mic work talking about Hogan’s past, as Joe just paces back and forth like a caged animal.   Hogan responds with a classic , what ya’ gonna do,  promo from back in the day.   Joe doesn’t say a word and just lets Muraco be his mouth piece, but at the end of this confrontation it is Samoa Joe and Hulk Hogan in front of each other looking to battle.   We go off the air just as it looks like they are about to go at it.
